A museum in Cleveland, Ohio, is now adopting cryptocurrency as a mode of payment for the very first time. The visitors now will be able to pay for the ticket of Great Lakes Science Center with the use of crypto Bitcoin (BTC). The procedure of taking BTC for payment will begin on Tuesday, November 13.
As per the news outlet Crain’s Cleveland, the museum will use BitPay for the Bitcoin payments processes. Anyone who is interested to pay by BTC can use an app on their cell phone.
The CEO of Great Lakes Science Center, Kirsten Ellenbogen, said that this step of taking BTC as payment source is a way towards the development of the blockchain ecosystem among the people. There is already a lot of excitement regarding the conference, and accepting BTC is a small source of the momentum to grow the crypto and blockchain network in Cleveland.
The adoption of the whole crypto processes comes ahead of the inauguration of Blockland Solutions Conference. The event will take place in December, where the focus will be on exploring and educating the visitors about the blockchain technology and its future
Museum in US Accepting Bitcoin
There are already two main Museum accepting BTC for a long time. The Museum of Coastal Bend in Texas and St. Peterburg Museum of History in Florida are two museums which are accepting cryptocurrencies as a mode of payment. The Great Lakes Science Center will be the third one in the list.
In the year 2013, Coastal Bend Museum integrated BTC for the first time. During that time, the spokesperson of the Museum said that anyone can visit and use the BTC. It doesn’t cost the Museum anything to try. The museum was the first one in the nation to try this cool idea. He further said:
“Also, admission is pay-what-you-want, in case anyone was wondering how many of their hard-earned BTC they would need to spend here.”
As there is already been a successful integration of Museums and cryptocurrencies in the United States, this collaboration of museums with the digital currency is becoming a new trend in the market. This is an efficient way of involving customers in the virtual market.
